Do I Need a Referral?
Yes. A referral from your local general practitioner is required if you wish to claim for Medicare rebates.
These referrals will last for twelve months. Referrals from other medical specialists will only last for three months.
How Often Am I Seen During My Pregnancy?
Antenatal Visits are (usually) scheduled as follows:
- First visit: 8 – 10 weeks gestation
- 4 – 6 weekly until 28 weeks gestation
- 2 weekly until 36 weeks gestation
- Weekly until delivery
- Postnatal visit: 6 weeks after delivery
You are welcome to make additional appointments if you have any concerns.
Your partner and family are welcome to attend any consultations.

Our obstetric practice is exclusively based at SJOG Murdoch Hospital.
Is Your Doctor a "No Gap" Provider?
Our doctors are "No Gap" providers for in hospital gynaecology & obstetrics services for most major health funds.
What Do I Do If Something Happens After Hours?
If you are feeling concerned after hours at any point during your pregnancy please contact St Mary's ward directly and they will contact our obstetricians.
Do I Need to Organise Antenatal Classes?
After you have completed your orange hospital booking form, the hospital will send you some information and a brochure on the antenatal classes when you are about 28 weeks pregnant.
